Bully Infringements
InfringementNo player in either side may attempt to put downward pressure on an opposition Bully-player, lift legs or act in a manner that is dangerous. Any player deemed by the umpire to be guilty of such an infringement is to be given a Yellow-card and sin-binned (for up to TEN minutes). The team must match the number of players in the opposition Bully by moving a Behind into the Bully.
When a Tightly-Formed-Bully is in progress, the Post, Side-Posts, and Corners of the side not in possession of the ball must remain in close contact with the opposing Post, Side-Posts and Corners and both Bups must remain fully bound, until the ball leaves the Set-Piece-Bully or goes “behind”. (See F1-3 and I-1)
The Set-Piece-Bully must not be allowed to wheel beyond 90 degrees; if this happens the umpire(s) should reset the Set-Piece-Bully at the original place, unless the umpire can be sure that one side had deliberately caused the wheeling. In such a case, a Free-kick should be awarded to the non-offending side.
The front rows must not charge into one another but must be called in safely by the umpire – “CROUCH”, “BIND”, “SET”. See F-6.
No Set-Piece-Bully or Bully-Rush may be driven more than 5 yards; a Bully-Rouge (K-5) can only be scored from a Set-Piece-Bully formed on the 3-yard-line. Umpires should use the calls “Hold” and “Use it” when the team in possession has driven five yards. If the ball is driven over the line from a Set-Piece-Bully or Bully-Rush outside the 3-yard line, the umpire should award a goal-kick to the defending team.
Penalty: Free-kick
For deliberate offences by the defending side at a Set-Piece-Bully on the 3-yard-line: Penalty Point and a Free Kick to the non-offending side.
