Players
Procedural LawA full side has eleven players, made up of seven Bully players, the Fly and three Behinds. Some competitions may involve reduced teams. Umpires should refer to the rules of competitions before taking the field.
The number of players in the Bully must be the same at all times for both sides. If a team has a Bully-player sin-binned (or for other reasons is no longer able to field a full number of players), then one of the Behinds must join the Bully.
Players on the pitch must not change their status (i.e. a change of who is playing Fly or in the Behinds) until the ball is dead. To make a change the captain of the team must first inform the umpire and then the captain of the opposing team.
No changes of status or substitutions are allowed when a Set-Piece-Bully (or Free-Kick) on the 3-yard-line has been awarded.
In most games (not in House Ties or the knockout stages of Junior Shield), “rolling subs” are allowed. For any substitution (rolling or permanent) the same protocol as for changes of position (D2-3) must be followed.
